    The short answer

From $33 a square foot, installed

In 2026, professionally installed paver patios, walkways and driveways in PEI start at $33 per square foot plus HST. That includes excavation, a compacted gravel base, geotextile fabric, polymeric sand, edge restraint and cleanup. A typical 400 sq ft Charlottetown patio starts around $13,200 plus HST.

The price goes up from there with borders, curves, steps, premium paver lines, tough access or drainage work. If a quote comes in well under $33, something below the surface is usually missing.

5 things that move your price up

Two patios that look the same from the street can be priced very differently. These are the reasons.

    1. 1

      Site preparation

The biggest variable. A flat, open backyard preps faster than a sloped lot, heavy clay, or old concrete that has to be broken out and hauled away.

    2. 2

      Paver line and pattern

Premium paver lines come in dozens of styles at different price points. Large slabs, herringbone patterns and contrasting borders cost more than a simple running bond.

    3. 3

      Shape and details

Curves, round fire-pit areas, steps and borders all need extra cuts, and extra cuts need extra pavers.

    4. 4

      Drainage and grading

Water has to go somewhere. Sloping away from the foundation, dealing with downspouts, or adding a French drain changes the scope.

    5. 5

      Access

If equipment can drive to the work area, the job moves fast. If everything goes through a narrow gate by wheelbarrow, labour hours climb.

    What you're paying for

    What's under every square foot

Most of the cost of a paver job is the part you never see. This is the build we put under every Aderz Outdoors patio, walkway and driveway, and it's what lets it handle Island freeze and thaw.

Red flags in a cheap quote

    • Thin base. 4 inches of gravel instead of 8 to 12. It heaves the first winter.

    • No geotextile fabric. The base mixes into the clay over time and the surface sinks.

    • Regular sand in the joints. Weeds and ants move in by year two.

    • No edge restraint. Pavers creep outward, joints open, the shape goes soft.

    • No drainage plan. No slope away from the house and no plan for runoff.

3 questions to ask any installer

    1. 1How deep is the compacted base, and is that written into the quote?
    2. 2Are polymeric sand and edge restraint included, or extra?
    3. 3Who handles drainage and grading, and where will the water go?

Included in every Aderz Outdoors paver quote

    • Geotextile fabric under the base
    • Class A gravel base, compacted in lifts
    • Polymeric sand in every joint
    • Edge restraint around the perimeter
    • Grading to move water away from the house
    • Site cleanup and debris haul
    FAQ

    Paver cost questions

What does a paver patio cost in PEI in 2026?

Installed paver patios in PEI start at $33 per square foot plus HST. A 400 sq ft patio starts around $13,200 plus HST. Borders, curves, steps, fire pits, premium paver lines, tight access and drainage work all move the price up from there.

How much does a paver driveway cost in PEI?

Paver driveways start at $33 per square foot installed, plus HST, and usually land above that because they need a deeper 10 to 12 inch compacted base to carry vehicles through freeze and thaw. A 600 sq ft driveway starts around $19,800 plus HST.

Why are some paver quotes so much cheaper?

Low quotes almost always cut something you can't see: a thin base, no geotextile fabric, regular sand instead of polymeric sand, no edge restraint, or no drainage plan. The surface looks fine the first summer, then heaves, sinks or spreads after a few winters.

Is HST included in these prices?

No. The $33 per square foot starting price is before 15% HST. Every Aderz Outdoors quote shows the HST line separately.
