Question 1

How much does weekly lawn care cost in PEI?

Accepted Answer

Pricing depends on lot size, complexity, and frequency. We quote per-property rather than using a flat per-cut rate so you only pay for the actual time and materials your property needs. See our pricing breakdown and book a free quote — most weekly residential service falls within a predictable range once we walk the property.

Question 2

When should I start lawn care for the season in PEI?

Accepted Answer

First mow is typically the last week of April or first week of May, once the lawn has dried out enough to avoid rutting. Aeration and the first fertilizer application can start a week or two earlier. Book by mid-April to lock in your spot — calendars fill quickly once the snow goes.

Question 3

Do I really need to aerate my lawn?

Accepted Answer

Yes. PEI's heavy red-clay soil compacts severely over winter and through the mowing season. Core aeration physically opens the soil so water, oxygen, and nutrients reach the root zone. We typically bundle aeration with a spring fertilizer for best results.

Question 4

How often should I water my lawn in PEI?

Accepted Answer

About 1 inch of water per week total (rain plus irrigation). Most PEI summers only need supplemental watering during July dry spells. Water deeply 1–2 times per week rather than lightly every day — deep watering builds deeper, drought-resistant roots.

Question 5

Why is my lawn yellow or patchy in spring?

Accepted Answer

The most common causes are snow mold, salt damage along driveways and walkways, ice damage, and compacted soil. We diagnose and treat all of these as part of our spring start-up package — usually a mix of de-thatching, aeration, overseeding, and a starter fertilizer.

Question 6

Do you do snow removal?

Accepted Answer

Not currently. We focus on lawn care, hardscape, and outdoor construction year-round. We're happy to refer you to a trusted local plowing company for winter service.

Question 7

How much does a paver patio cost in PEI?

Accepted Answer

Total cost depends heavily on square footage, paver style, pattern complexity, base preparation, site access, and removal of any existing surface. We do free on-site quotes and provide a written, firm quote within 48 hours so you know exactly what you're paying.

Question 8

Why premium pavers instead of cheaper big-box pavers?

Accepted Answer

PEI sees 120+ freeze-thaw cycles a year. Standard big-box concrete pavers typically delaminate within 5–8 years here. Premium high-density pavers are made to handle that, and they carry manufacturer warranties on structural integrity.

Question 9

How long does paver installation take?

Accepted Answer

Walkways: 2–3 days. Standard patios (300–500 sq ft): 4–6 days. Driveways: 6–12 days. Large multi-element backyard renovations: 2–4 weeks. Weather and site conditions can shift these slightly, but we always confirm a schedule before starting.

Question 10

Is there a warranty on the pavers?

Accepted Answer

The pavers and wall stones we install carry their manufacturer's warranty. When your project uses Techo-Bloc product, it carries Techo-Bloc's lifetime transferable warranty on structural integrity (residential use). We walk you through the warranty paperwork when the job is done, and if anything about our installation isn't right, call us and we come back.

Question 11

What is the right base depth for pavers in PEI?

Accepted Answer

Patios: 8–10 inches of compacted Class A gravel minimum. Driveways: 10–12 inches. Anything less is the #1 cause of settling and frost heaving within 3–5 years on the Island. Always ask any installer for their base depth in writing.

Question 12

Can you install pavers over my existing concrete?

Accepted Answer

Sometimes — it depends on the slab's condition, slope, and drainage. We assess on-site before quoting. When an overlay is feasible, it can save $4–8 per square foot in excavation and disposal costs.

Question 13

Do I need a permit for a retaining wall in PEI?

Accepted Answer

Most PEI municipalities require a building permit for walls 4 feet (1.2 m) or taller. Anything shorter is generally permit-free. We coordinate the permit application and arrange engineered drawings when needed so you don't have to navigate it alone.

Question 14

What stone do you work with?

Accepted Answer

Engineered segmental wall systems from leading Canadian manufacturers, plus natural granite and stone when the design calls for a different look.

Question 15

How tall can I build without engineering?

Accepted Answer

Under 4 feet from grade to the top of the wall — no engineered drawings required. Over 4 feet we coordinate engineering for you and build to spec, including geogrid reinforcement.

Question 16

Lifespan of a properly built retaining wall?

Accepted Answer

50+ years with proper base depth (12–18 inches), drainage backfill, and geogrid reinforcement on walls over 4 feet. The base and drainage are what fail first on poorly built walls — we don't cut corners on either.

Question 17

Do you build fire pits?

Accepted Answer

Yes — both engineered fire-pit kits and custom stone builds with integrated seating walls. We site every fire pit to PEI fire-safety setbacks (10 ft minimum from any structure or property line).

Question 18

Do you build decks?

Accepted Answer

Yes — cedar, pressure-treated, and composite. Pricing depends on size, material, height/railing complexity, foundation type (helical piles, sonotubes, or deck blocks), and any custom features like built-in benches or planters.

Question 19

Do you do pergolas?

Accepted Answer

Yes — custom-built cedar pergolas in any size, plus prefabricated metal kits for clients who prefer a lower-maintenance option. We design to suit the architecture of your home.

Question 20

What permits do I need for a deck or pergola in Charlottetown?

Accepted Answer

Attached decks typically require a building permit. Freestanding pergolas under 10 sq m often do not. Rules vary slightly by municipality — we help navigate the process and pull permits as part of the project.

Question 21

What does a spring cleanup include?

Accepted Answer

Winter debris removal, garden bed cleanout, edge re-definition, mulch top-up, lawn de-thatching, and the first mow of the season. Optional add-ons include aeration, overseeding, and a starter fertilizer.

Question 22

What does a fall cleanup include?

Accepted Answer

Final mow, full leaf removal (raking + blower + haul-away), garden bed winterization, perennial cutback, and an optional gutter clean-out. We leave the property ready for snow.

Question 23

When should I book fall cleanup?

Accepted Answer

Book by early September. We schedule cleanups from late October through mid-November depending on when the leaves finish dropping. Late bookings often slide into the next available slot.

Question 24

Do you offer free quotes?

Accepted Answer

Yes — every quote is free and no-obligation. We come to your property, measure, ask the right questions, and email a written quote within 24–48 hours.

Question 25

How accurate are your quotes?

Accepted Answer

Quotes are firm prices, not estimates. The only adjustments come if you change scope mid-project. No surprise upcharges, no "unforeseen" line items added halfway through.

Question 26

Do you require a deposit?

Accepted Answer

For projects over $5,000, we typically take a 25% deposit at signing with the balance due on completion. Smaller jobs are billed on completion only.

Question 27

Payment methods?

Accepted Answer

E-transfer (preferred), cheque, and credit card (3% surcharge). We don't accept cash for projects over $1,000 — proper paper trails protect both sides.

Question 28

Are you a registered business?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Aderz Outdoors is a registered PEI business with GST/HST number 76524 4421 RT 0001, based at 84 Kenwood Circle, Charlottetown.

Question 29

Which paver brand do you install?

Accepted Answer

We install premium pavers and wall systems from several Canadian manufacturers, including Techo-Bloc, and recommend the line that fits your design and budget.

Question 30

Do you do background checks on your crew?

Accepted Answer

Yes — every crew member is direct-hired by Aderz Outdoors, never subcontracted out. You'll see the same faces from quote to completion.

Question 31

How far in advance should I book?

Accepted Answer

Spring lawn care: book by mid-April. Paver patios: 2–4 weeks during peak season. Hardscape projects: 3–6 weeks during peak season. Off-season bookings move much faster.

Question 32

Do you work weekends?

Accepted Answer

Saturdays, yes (9 AM – 4 PM). Sundays we don't book — that's family day for our crew, and well-rested crews build better hardscape.

Question 33

What hours do you work?

Accepted Answer

Monday–Friday 8 AM – 6 PM, Saturday 9 AM – 4 PM. Office calls and texts are answered well outside those hours, especially in spring and fall.

Question 34

What if I need urgent work?

Accepted Answer

Call or text 902-316-0227 directly. We hold rush-job slots for emergencies — collapsed retaining walls, washed-out driveways, etc. Rush turnaround can sometimes happen within 48–72 hours.

Question 35

What areas of PEI do you serve?

Accepted Answer

All of PEI — primarily Charlottetown, Stratford, Cornwall, Summerside, Montague, and surrounding communities. We'll travel anywhere on the Island for the right project.

Question 36

Where are you based?

Accepted Answer

84 Kenwood Circle, Charlottetown, PE C1E 1Z8. Quotes, planning, and material staging happen here.

Question 37

Do you serve commercial properties?

Accepted Answer

Yes — small commercial, strata properties, churches, and multi-unit residential. We offer custom contract pricing for properties 0.25 acres and up.
